And They’ll Tell 5 Friends… And So On… And So On…
October 3, 2008
Jack Leblond just called me out. No I swear, he did.
He wanted to know if I was registered to vote! What do you think? Am I registered to vote? Of course I am. I’ve been registered to vote since 1984. I take my rights very seriously - because the right to vote isn’t just a right, it’s also a responsibility. It’s a privilege and an honor to be a part of a country where I have a say - even if it’s just a small one - in what our government does. I exercise that freedom, that right, that privilege, and that responsibility whenever I can.
But I do so responsibly. I research the candidates, the issues, the positions, and try to vote based on both my values AND what I think is best for the country as a whole.
But here - tell you what, watch this - and you’ll see why I’m telling you DON’T VOTE!!
You know, in theory, I could make a list of folks to call out on this - but I’m just going to throw it at you - so, are YOU registered to vote? If so, link me to your post about this in the comments. If not, tell me why not in the comments, okay? Seriously, I’m interested.

interesting reverse-psycho campaign. I’m not gonna vote for sure, because I am Indonesian, but really enjoy the US election show. I bet this post will do 5000 instead of 5. Good luck!
ganbatte!!
What? i dont get it.
Folks have short attention spans. Some will log off before they get thru to the meat of the message (as evidenced by comment #2).
Yes, I’m registered to vote. Didn’t know about Google’s awesome vote registration lookup site though, which is mentioned in the video. I went direct to my county’s voting site to check (namely to be sure my voter reg. card hadn’t expired since, for a time, I couldn’t find it! Found and valid, btw).
Watch the vid, folks. Visit http://maps.google.com/vote
I have to share this with you…
only because I know you will share in the groan, and the disgust.
I had to teach today, and the students were talking about this little video.
They all
ALL
argued with me, that the point of this video was NOT to vote, that it was a waste of time.
Seriously.
most of them said they only watched the first three or four minutes, and they “got it”
why watch the rest…
??
I fear that hollywood with it’s 37 minute TV shows ( that are suppose to be an hour) and there 130 min movies have reduced the attention span of america to 30 second clips.
So these 18+ year olds are not Voting..
Leonardo Dicaprio told them not to.
sigh
and i couldn’t convince them to go back and watch the WHOLE thing.
hangs head
sigh
I don’t know wether to cry
or just throw up.
Oh dang… I was kind of afraid of that too Sorrow… b/c I barely got to the part where it shifted too.
Tell the 18 year olds not to vote then. Because if they can’t be bothered to watch that whole video? I seriously doubt they can be trusted with the responsibility of actually researching candidates and issues before voting.
The only thing more dangerous and pathetic than someone who doesn’t vote when they can? Someone who votes without bothering to think first.
What’s even more pathetic is people who think they’re thinking, when they’re identifying emotionally, having sexual fantasies, or other irrational brain activity. For example, I’m voting McCain/Palin because my “thinking” goes “damn that Palin is a MILF!”
