Manta Mania!! Win a Trip for 4 from Izea to SeaWorld in Orlando
February 11, 2009
This past weekend, if you were reading my Twitterstream you know I got to go to SeaWorld in Orlando thanks to the wonderful people at IZEA & SeaWorld. I spent my weekend feeling like a kid again while getting to spend some of the most amazing moments with @eMom, @juliaroy, @pop17, @aschek & @tedmurphy! I keep blaming my laryngitis on ‘travel plague’ that I seem to get every time I’m in an airplane – but I think it actually started someday mid-way thru Saturday with all of the squeeing and screaming I did, if I’m being honest…
I went to SeaWorld in San Diego once as a kid. My big memory outside of Shamu the Killer Whale was that my older brother got a pearl out of his oyster from the pearl divers while mine came up with an empty shell. So when Ted Murphy told me that I got to go to SeaWorld in Orlando to experience a hard-hat tour of their upcoming Manta attraction? My first thought was “yeah, I’m going to head straight to the pearl divers! hah!”
You know what? They still have pearl divers – but we were so busy doing other exciting things? I kind of, um, forgot to go do that even tho I walked by more than once. Don’t worry, I’ll be doing it again soon enough with my own family (or so I’ve been informed by my daughter upon seeing footage of my weekend) so it will be on the list then I’m sure!
I’ll be honest that I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I mean, when someone says “Orlando” I used to think of that big park with the mouse, ya know? And before this weekend? When I thought “SeaWorld” I didn’t think “roller coaster” or “up close experiences with sea creatures” or even really much beyond “rotten-oysters-that-didn’t-give-me-a-pearl” and “Shamu” – so I didn’t exactly go in expecting to have the day of a lifetime. I mean, I didn’t even know that anything outside of the hard-hat tour was on the agenda before about a week out.
But dude. I had the day of a lifetime. I got to feed (and touch!) dolphins. Real, live, happy, frolicking, smiling, wonderful dolphins!! And it’s not an experience that is kept to the “select few” either. Sure, in order to get us through even a small portion of what the park offers visitors, we had VIP access that got us to the front of many lines – but there were lines. You? You can feed dolphins… and manta rays… and even sea lions (but man, those sea lions? a bit on the “fishy-smelly side” yikes!) All you have to do is go to Orlando, buy a ticket to SeaWorld and buy some smelly fish and wait your turn… well, for the dolphins anyhow – the mantas and sea lions are sort of a ’step-right-up and feed away’ deal.
Even with all of that, I was still totally stunned by all of the stuff that is going into the new Manta experience. I say ‘experience’ because it’s waaaay more than just an incredible one-of-a-kind coaster. There’s also the immersive aquarium experience and so much more than I can fit into just one blog post. (Yes, there will be more informational posts coming – I’m like that, remember?) Seriously, it’s not a “ride” it’s an experience. I personally can’t wait to get back there when it’s open. (See Ted Murphy’s video for a feel of how excited we all were.)
What? You don’t see it in the budget this year? You should. Seriously, I’m frantically figuring out a way to put it in my budget for later this year. But yeah, I understand – easy for me to say. I just got back from there. Not everyone is so lucky.
Aren’t you lucky then that you’re reading this? Because the awesome folks at Izea & SeaWorld have teamed up to create this wicked cool contest called Manta Mania.
Someone (You?) is going to win a trip for 4 to SeaWorld Orlando to be one of the FIRST people to RIDE the new Manta!! (Not to mention get to see all of the other cool stuff for themselves!)
What do you have to do to enter? Seriously, it’s so easy it’s almost done already:
1 – Blog Comment:
Leave a comment on this post sharing why you want to take your family or friends to SeaWorld to ride Manta. Make sure to include valid information so we can contact you if you win!
2 – Twitter Tweet:

I’ll be giving away a SeaWorld Schwag Bag to one winner who enters on GeekMommy.net and IZEA will choose the grand prize winner randomly from all entries on the 6 blogs participating in the giveaway. The bloggers participating in the giveaway are the ones who went on the SeaWorld trip with me – Wendy Piersall, Sarah Austin, Julia Roy, Alex Schek and Ted Murphy.
Just don’t sit too close to Ted Murphy if you’re at the Shamu Believe show – it’s um, a damp experience

I have always wanted to go to SeaWorld. I am so kid hearted and would love it! We live in the NW with no amusement parks, our kids & us haven’t done a family adventure in over 8 years.
What a wonderful opportunity you are giving your readers. And the sponsor is just amazing! TY!

Oh, well I’ll tweet the contest anyway as it’s an awesome prize and I have lots of friends in the US who’d LOVE to win
I saw the pics from the weekend as it happened – looked like you all had tons of fun! Love those smiley dolphins
I’m in! I’m in!
Because I can think of NOTHING cooler than rounding up a bunch of deviant freaks form San Francisco and shaking things up at Sea World.
We’ll be a ride unto ourselves!

Never been to seaworld/disney etc. Always been out of our budget.
Maybe this will be our chance.
SeaWorld and a chance to ride the Manta… Although I am slightly afraid of roller coasters I LOVE them. The thrill of conquering ones fear is never over rated. Living in Northern Mississippi my biggest chance at thrill is cow tipping. Please help send this girl and her family to SeaWorld for a rare chance to scream while the wind rips through my hair!!

I am SUCH a roller coast junkie! and well, the onl time I was in FL was waiting to go someplace else…
I would LOVE to win this for my 2 daughters! The oldest wants to work in Marine Biology and both have ALWAYS wanted to go! We are also coaster junkies! What a blessing!
Tweeted it! Username Dewgin!
My daughters have never been anywhere like this and KG (the eldest) has been begging for a trip to FLA and Seaworld since she was old enough to talk. We have been saving quarters ever since, but still haven’t been able to save enough to go! We want to go and be able to afford to give our girls the kind of time they deserve. My husband has also never been and, to be honest, he wants to go just as bad as KG. Kat loves animals and being able to show her these amazing creatures up close would be such a privelege. I am a roller coaster fanatic! I ride them everywhere I can find them! I love sharing my love of roller coasters with my girls..even if it’s just the kiddie rides. KG loves to ride any ride and always wants to be included in the riding. I wold love to share this amazing experience with my daughters and husband without the fear of “How can we possibly afford this?” Than you to Seaworld and Izea for offering such an amazing giveaway.
Tweeted some love to ya:)

I would love for the chance
to visit SeaWorld for the first time
and take my family with me of course
for the Manta Experience in 2009
This would be such a dream come true for my little girl. First off she has been wanting to take a plane trip somewhere, anywhere, since she realized she could ride in a plane. Senondly, she has this wonderful obsession (like her mommy) for all things water related and she would just about die if she got to go to sea world.

Hi! Wow, what a great giveaway. I am here, not to comment about how much I want to go, but I would like to comment about how much Mom of Faith wants to go! She is a good friend of mine and I would to put in a good word for her. Please pick her and her family! They are in desperate need of a vacation! Thanks so much! DAWN
I tweeted! http://twitter.com/PainterMommy/status/1200040516
I would love to be able to take my family to Sea World. It is one place I have always wanted to take them and have never been able to do so. Please consider me and my 3 children. My son graduates high school in the spring and then will head immediately off to Air Force basic training. I would love to have this as something we can do as a family before he goes. My oldest is 21 and will soon leave the nest as well. My 9 year old will get the biggest kick out of it. Best of all on your end, I can blog about it and have a perspective from 4 different age groups.
I would LOVE to take the family to Sea World! My 8-year old daughter wants to be a whale-trainer when she grows up, so this would be the most amazing experience for her, as well as the rest of us!! And we all LOVE roller coasters!!! Thanks for the opportunity!!!

What’s this? I’m the first guy posting a comment on your blog? That should be a good enough reason to send me to SeaWorld, eh? Not to mention, I’ve never been!
I have never been. My little girl is always talking about someday she will get to go. It would make her heart leap for joy and an experience all of us would never forget. She always talks about someday being in paradise with dolphins. It would help me give her a chance to experience “paradise”. Plus it would give me an excuse to leave the business world and remember to play
My 4 yo is still to little to ride manta but my son and I would have a ton of fun. I know both my kids would love looking at the rest of the Seaworld attractions.
Mercedes
We love Orlando! The last time we went to Sea World, Baby Gurl was just a …well, baby!
Well my kiddos (3 and 1) are too little to ride the Manta – but they would go crazy for all the aquatic animal attractions. I’ve heard SeaWorld is awesome for the pre-school and under set and I”d love the chance to bring Kenzie and Kyle there. And I’ve actually NEVER been to Sea World myself……. just sayin’
Thrilled you had such an awesome trip. Can’t wait to read more posts all about it.
Our family has never been on a vacation. Unless you count the trips to Grandma’s. My boys would LOVE this trip, and so would Mommy and Daddy. Honestly, to win this would be a miracle and of course I’d have to rave all about it on my blog! Thanks for the chance!
I tweeted here: http://twitter.com/momnerd/status/1203677941 Thanks!

I would love to be able to take my kids to Seaworld. My youngest got to go to Seaworld San Diego when we lived there, but they were too young to remember. I personally would have too see if I still have the guts for a roller coaster. It’s probably been close to 10 years since i’ve been on a roller coaster. Ha. The very thought makes me nervous. I love Seaworld though. Definitely something for everyone.
Tweet Tweet. I twittered at twitter id millaa1.
This is a great giveaway! Good luck to all! I love Sea World, this is not the year to return. As my kids and have plans! anyone going to Sea world for the first time will sure never forget!
Oh my gosh, I would love to take my family to Sea World. My husband is coming home from Iraq this summer & will definitely need a vacation! After being overseas for a year, the guy is going to want to go somewhere fun & celebrate being back in the U.S. My mom & brother would go with us. We’d have a blast riding the roller coaster – We haven’t been to a theme park in quite a few years. My brother is into Marine Biology, so we’d have a blast riding Manta! To win this would be amazing, a truly wonderful gift for my husbands return home, & a gift for my brother graduating from high school & myself graduating from college.
I have not been to Sea World since I was a wee lassie. I agree with you: while it would be fun flying solo, it would be exponentially cooler with the family. Kids would be in heaven, Hubby would christen me a goddess and as for me? I’d hang with Shamu. Doesn’t get any better than that!
Hope you’re feeling better soon.
I twittered how seeing 5,000-lbs Shamu would be EXPONENTIALLY COOLER than being dragged to hubby’s 1,000-lbs pumpkin weigh-offs. I need this for my sanity.
I would love to take my kids to Manta Mania because SeaWorld is the perfect combination of education, entertainment and excitement. The kids are finally old enough to enjoy such a trip, and Yankee Bill and I would have fun as well. Everyone happy!
Oh please, oh please.
My 12 yr. old and 8 yr. old daughters would love the trip to Orlando. And seeing a real live whale would be icing on the cake.
I would love to win this because we have never been to Seaworld. We have never been to Orlando either. And my son would really love this.
I want to go to SeaWorld @GeekMommy I’ve got #mantamania because we have never been to Seaworld….this was my tweet @independentmami
I want to go to SeaWorld @GeekMommy I’ve got #mantamania because we have never been….I just tweet this @independentmami on twitter now
http://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=5078749461584593616 I just blogged about wanting to win this trip!!!!
I would love to take my daughter and her husban and two girls to Sea World. My daughter & I visited some of Flofida’s attractions when she was young but not Sea World, she has always wanted to and I know she would love to take her family and I would love to ber there to see their faces. My next step is to twitter this/
Please, Please. My family needs to win this. First of all we live in ALASKA! So we are stuck INSIDE IN THE DARK for six months of the year. Second, we have the worlds cutest daughter, seriously go to my blog and check out some of her photos if you don’t believe me. And third, because I would blog endless photos of my daughter enjoying her trip to SeaWorld! And we all know this would give much joy to the readers of my blog and spur a rush of bookings for trips to SeaWorld! So all things considered, how could you not pick me?
okay, if the above didn’t work…please please with a cherry ontop! ; )
My granddaughter is coming to visit me this summer, and I’d love nothing better than to take her to SeaWorld. She lives in snowy Colorado, so I’m sure spending some time with the dolphins, etc., would be a wonderful change of pace for her! Thanks.
Here’s my twitter note on the contest: http://twitter.com/SecondStory/status/1210009868
Blogged the contest at http://pcolamus.blogspot.com/. Any suggestions on what I should add? I’m new at this!
I want to take my daughters (ages 15 and 13) someplace fun. We hardly go anywhere, and they deserve to have some fun. I got to go to Sea World San Diego years ago with a school trip (with the daughter of a friend) and I had fun – I can only imagine what a good time my kids would have.
I work full time and go to school full time and don’t spend enough time with my daughters – this would help a lot.

Thanks to Sea World and IZEA for sponsoring such a generous trip! I would love to take my family to Sea World as there has been an unexpected death in the family and we need to divert our attention and have a more carefree time. The Manta seems to fit that bill.

My 7 yo daughter is obsessed with fish and she wants to be a Shamu trainer when she grows up. I would love to take the kids to SeaWorld. And the Manta – my oldest one would absolutely love the ride. We lived three weeks in Dallas/FW area last summer, and we saw Six Flags from our hotel window – but didn’t go because I was sick… it was a huge disappointment for the kids, so I would love to take them to the SeaWorld this summer.
Thank you so much for an amazing giveaway!
Oh wow. I really would love to take my baby girl on this trip. I went there years ago with my family. Would mean so much to take her. And I feel like since she’s a toddler, this is one of the few big parks that would really work for her! Part park, part aquarium. Thanks for such a great giveaway!

What a great giveaway. My oldest son the other day told me that he would love to move somewhere warm in the winter, and when it turns spring we can come home again
!
We would love to take our daughter to SeaWorld Orlando…the best trips our family have taken revolve around animal life…zoos, aquariums, etc…there is something that the entire family truly can enjoy together…thanks!!!

My son has an incredible connection with animal, dolphins in particular. We would regularly visit them at the Mirage when we lived in Vegas. He ‘knew’ each one and one time, the trainers kept calling his favorite one and he was so upset. He was pulling on my arm and telling me that was the wrong one. After the trainer was done talking to the group he came over and whispered that my son was right. The real “S” had died and was quietly replaced. All the trainers were amazed that he could tell. But, he did. He knew every single one. Some say it is his little touch of autism that makes this occur, others think animals in general are curious about his wheelchair, but I don’t think it is either, I think he just connects with them on a softer level. So, since we moved away and no longer get to see his “friends” I would love to win a trip to Sea World to give him this great experience.

Oh! I want to go! And why would I want to go? Because I’m raising a for real marine science genius child. No maternal bragging, I promise. He’s been a docent at the Dauphin Island aquarium since he was seven, he’s just that smart. I would *love* to take him to Sea World to have the opportunity to see marine science on a larger scale.
My family of thrill seekers would enjoy this
i would love to win this one
I am presently attending a class to become a Master Naturalist. and attended a Marine Biology class, the ocean and the animals it houses are my passion.
As a single parent it is difficult to afford vacations. But if we winthis trip to Sea World It will give me hands on experience as I volunteer as a Naturalist and help me help others understand the under water. of a variety of Flora and Fauna. My son and I would really enjoy the time together satour favorite place Sea World .
We have a passion for rollercoasters and some day plan to travel around to ride all the fastest one’s we could start with winning the ride on the manta along with the educational and hands on experience with Sea Life. As in my laswt posting
Dar
Wow, we have never been to Disney Orlando, and my oldest has thrown around the idea she wants to be a marine biologist, this would TICKLE HER PINK. Amazing. Thanks for the chance!
I would love the opportunity to take my kids to Sea World in Orlando. It has been a while since we have gone on a real family vacation and with the economy this year, it isn’t looking too promising that this year will be any different
So If I win my family would be so indebtted (sp) to you!!! Maybe I would have to Kiss Shamu or a dolphin or something and vlog it, to show you my greatfulness !!!
Thank You for the awesome giveaway !!!
I LOVE Seaworld and I would love to bring my kids to see it. Last time we were in FL, they were too young to appreciate it so we left them with the grandparents and went ourselves!
It would be a well deserved vacation for my family.
I twittered: TuesdayGirl
My husband and I are separating and I think this trip would be just the thing my son needs to feel like his fun won’t end. We could take family or friends with us and just forget about the real world for a few days.
I would love to take my family to Seaworld. I can’t believe I am admitting this, but have never been to Seaworld and I have lived in Florida all my life, I think its time.
I have been wanting to take my son to Sea World and stuff but being a single mom, i just dont have the means. The last time i went to Sea World i was seven, which is exactly my sons age now. When i was there, i don’t even remember any rides so this would be like going for the first time for all of us!!
I twittered!! MissBlondie919
I would love to take my girls to SeaWorld! They love fishies and would LOVE to see the Dolphin and Whale shows. I’m a rollercoaster freak and haven’t been on one in YEARS! Would love to check out the new rides! I’m sure they’re much better than the ones I was on in 2001…
I love dolphins and would love to go to Sea World to see them.I live in South Dakota and have never been any where to even get close to them.
Oh my 25th anniversary is this year what a great present this would be.
My family needs a vacation. We haven’t been on a vacation—ever! Our last two trips were to funerals. We need some fresh air and fun!

I want to go to SeaWorld @GeekMommy I’ve got #mantamania because
I’m still working on a blog post about this.
I’d love to win the trip to Orlando and SeaWorld because I promised my 17 year old a trip to Orlando for high high school graduation gift, and he and I both love roller coasters. Unfortunately, as time is getting closer, I’m not entirely sure I’ll be able to afford the trip. Additionally, my sister lives in Orlando and has yet to see my 3 month old, has only seen my 4 year old twice, and hasn’t seen my 17 year old in 4 years.
Blogged at http://thewoodedglen.com/2009/02/22/graduation-and-summer-vacation/.
I have to admit when I talk to my family about SeaWorld…well, they are unenthusuastic. To them orlando means the place with the mouse. I really want to go. The kids love the Dolphin Show at the Blatimore Aquarium. I know Sea World would blo their minds.
The divorce has been hard on my two kids. The last few years have been filled with unexpected disappointments for all three of us. While my 11 year old daughter & 6 year old son don’t always articulate it, I have seen the sadness and confusion in their eyes.
I would like to shock them in a good way with a surprise trip to Sea World. In the next few months the kids are going to have a new Mom and life will continue to evolve and change. We all get along great and the future has never looked so hopeful.
It would be amazing to look back years from now and point to the Sea World trip as the beginning of our new life together.
Thanks
Rich
