A Bit of Administrative Stuff…

March 2, 2009

Over the weekend, I was at WordCamp Denver and found myself thinking about my blog.  Not terribly surprising I guess to think about your blog when you’re at a day full of information about WordPress and blogging.

What I realized is that it’s time for a bit of change.

I’ve been trying to find a groove for this blog for awhile now.  Some of my posts are just your average “person with a blog and something to write about” posts.  Some are about contests and give aways.  Some are product or site reviews.  Topics vary – but more than just topics – types of posts.  Granted – there are probably some of you reading who fall under the category of “I don’t care what it is you post, but could you start doing it a little more regularly?” But probably not most of you.

So there’s that then.  An issue which I’ll be addressing shortly.  For now? I’ll be putting tags like [contest] and [review] in the headlines of my posts when they are.

There’s also the bit about where I’m the kind of person who changes her hair color more frequently than most people.  I mean, when my daughter was born, my hair was dark, dark red.  Last year at this time, it was blonde.  Currently it’s brown with highlights.  I’m thinking it will probably change again shortly.

What does hair color have to do with blogging?

Well, it’s more that I’m the kind of gal who gets antsy and changes stuff radically.  This means that I’m also the kind of gal who is likely to change the design of her website every so often.  So when my friend George mentioned that my site was “difficult to navigate b/c the blog posts weren’t all on one page” over the weekend I decided that it was kind of overdue for a makeover.  Even if I do rather like the current structure, I don’t mind switching it up a bit… so now I’m looking around.

So – if you suddenly start seeing a bit of change – and a lot more posting? That’s because it’s time.

I didn’t realize I had so much power over you ;-)

A lot more posting is good too. Twitter’s great but sometimes life calls for more than 140 characters…

I’m glad you’re open to change. That’s a good posture to maintain for everyone – particularly today.

Sorry I didn’t get to say hi at Wordcamp. It was a great day.

I always like to see what some of my favorite bloggers do to shake things up a bit.

    I agree…you SHOULD post more :-)

And I get the hair color analogy, altho isn’t changing your hair color much easier than changing your site?

Regardless, more blogging would be nice :-)

I have no website. I am extremely interested in getting into the blogging business, as writing is my passion. I have written several short stories, and books that, as you may figure, have not left my office! Now that my children are in their 30’s, I am now pursuing my life long dream of being a writer, professionally. I wrote an article for my college when I was attending, getting my degree, written on a regular basis about animals. I am an animal activist and my goal with that monthly article was to give student readers information about the care, protection, commitment, rights, and respect, and all areas of the treatment and care of animals. It is amazing how many people in my state do not know how to care for a simple pet, such as a cat or a dog. Some adults do not have a clue as to the proper care, training, commitment it takes to raise an animal friend. My article was
called “The Animals’ Advocate.” And was well accepted by the
students and staff. A wise man said “write what you are passionate about.” So I did! I would love to do it soon again.

    with sincerity,

    Hi GeekMommy -

We met at Chicks Who Click earlier this year in Colorado. I agree. I think sometimes its great to switch things up. I think tags are great – it helps people to classify, and get through all the info that they are reading.

I have tried to still figure out the art of blogging, or creating a blorum – a blog forum, if you will, that opens up an audience. I think it is very interesting how all this works, and have been inspired since that conference.

I also want to talk to you about this naturopathic institute I went to in India – I know this has NOTHING to do with your blog post- so you can edit this out, but let me know if you want to talk – I know you talked a bit at dinner regarding health, and life, etc. – and I’d love to let you know some things I learned at a world reknown institute on the other side of the planet!

Anyways – hope all is well. Was sad I missed SXSW.. but heard that it was a blast!
