@ayoub - you would've! :)

@anne-marie - everyone rips off Asimov eventually, don't they? Hm, speaking of which, I'm overdue to re-read the Foundation series.

@Michele - Stargate shows have a much different feel (considerably more tongue-in-cheek comedy) but they do have some of the same core elements that made Star Trek so watchable. We didn't even originally watch SG-1, because we were convinced it wouldn't live up to the movie. Ben Browder & Claudia Black (from Farscape) coming into the series drew us in... now we're starting over with that series on DVD too.
Let me know what you think?

I guess Stargate is next on my list. We are huge Star Trek fans and we are getting all the Battlestar Galactica shows on Netflix now, so I guess Stargate will be next. I miss Star Trek. These other shows are good, but not as good as ST.

Brilliant analysis, which either proves that there's nothing new in Hollywood or that Star Trek rules and all other science fiction shows are just a pale comparison.

Well, maybe they're all just ripping off Isaac Asimov.
